"Starting over" could be this years motto with many personal and professional goals. One of them was, to redesign this very website.

The Redesign

Well, what's to say? It's an experimental responsive design that works fine on smartphones, tablets and desktop browsers. It makes use of parallax scrolling and CSS animations to add some nice details for modern browsers with large screens. It also delivers large high resolution images to devices with retina displays like the iPhone 4, iPhone 4S & iPad (3rd gen). (Only the home page, the news/journal not yet.)

While I'm mostly happy with the new home page, I could spend a lot more hours tweaking details of the behavior or the design. I might adjust these details over time, but it will take a while because ...

Work & Life

You know that feeling, when you start to realize something has to change, something is out of balance? Yeah, for some people it takes a bit longer to realize this. I'm one of them. After working years without proper vacation, often 6 or 7 days a week, it's time for some change.

So I made 2012 my travel year. In between the travels and city trips I'm back in the studio and work hard for my clients and on my own projects. But as often as possible, I'm on the way, traveling, recharging, balancing.

Koh Phangan, Thailand – February 2012

Copenhagen, Denmark – April 2012

Amsterdam, Netherlands – April 2012

Madrid, Spain – May 2012

Paris, France – April 2012

In the last twelve months (mostly 2012) I've visited more countries and cities than I did in the ten years before that. And besides starting to love all the joys and beauty of traveling, it even keeps me from working too much and sitting in front of the computer all day.

I hope I can keep doing this on and off travel/work-thing for the rest of the year.
